    Description

Leopold and Loeb Murder Case Archive, 1924. This is an incredible collection of original press photographs, drawings, crime scene maps, and trial documents from the Twentieth Century's most notorious "thrill killing" of 14-year-old Bobby Franks by University of Chicago students, Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb. Included are: a typed report analyzing the psychological make-up of the killers based on their physical features; an original pen and ink drawing of the Kenwood suburb of Chicago that was home to both the killers, their victim, and the crime scene, 8" x 11.25"; the original Cook County Jail booking card that recorded the killers' personal and physical history, as well as their cell assignments (Loeb in cell 717 and Leopold in cell 604), 11" x 7"; an original graphite portrait of Richard Loeb by newspaper artist Dorothy Dick and a copy of the picture as it appeared in the Chicago Herald Examiner, August 9, 1924, 7.5" x 12"; a holographic transcription of notes on capital punishment written by Bobby Franks two weeks before he was slain, 7" x 10.5"; a very large printed collage of images of the killers, victims, members of the associated families and drawings of the murder and disposal of the body, 17.25" x 22.5", on card stock; large individual press photos of Leopold and Loeb, and a photo of the defendants and members of the court examining the car used in the murder; a large print of Nathan Leopold's booking mug shot; and, perhaps the most touching is a real photo postcard of little Bobby Franks on a visit to the park shortly before his death. Fascinating!

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
