    Description

John Dillinger: His Personal Stickpin. Unlike many gangsters, John Dillinger was not known as a flashy dresser. Yet, in one of his most famous photos, he appears quite well-dressed and even sports a diamond stickpin. That very same stickpin is the featured item in this lot. It measures 3" long and is housed in a custom display frame. The setting appears to be platinum and the style is typical of the 1920s. The display includes an August 24, 1975 "Arizona Daily Star" newspaper article showing Dillinger and commenting "The stick pin is still around." Yes, indeed. It was part of the estate of Tucson Police Chief Christopher Wollard.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
