Confederate Roll of Honor for Multiple Battles Including Murfreesboro, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Twenty-six printed page, 5" x 8", Richmond, October 3, 1863. Issued as General Orders, No. 131 from the office of Adjutant and Inspector General Samuel Cooper. Due to "Difficulties in procuring the medals and badges of distinction, having delayed their presentation by the the officers, non-commissioned officers and privates of the armies of the Confederate States..." this order was issued to further "...avoid postponing the grateful recognition of their valor until it can be made in the enduring form..."

The order further provides that the "...names of all those who have been or may hereafter be reported as worthy of this distinction, be inscribed on a Roll of Honor...the Roll of appended to this Order, and read at the head of every regiment in the service of the Confederate States...and be published in at least one newspaper in each state..."

The Roll of Honor follows in the remaining twenty-five pages and is first divided by battle, first Murfreesboro, followed by Chancellorsville, and finally Gettysburg. Under each battle, the names are further divided by state and then by regiment. Under regiment are found the names of the Roll inductees followed by their respective companies. Those with asterisks following their names designate "...those killed in action." A small erratum is tipped into the final page.

Bound along the left edge with twine, the front and rear covers are heavily toned with spots of lightening due to water damage. Moderate to heavy foxing throughout.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
