    Description

    1789 Broadsheet from the Gazette of the United States. Two pages, 10" x 16", pages 16 and 17, Philadelphia, nd. Titled "ODE Sung on the arrival of the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES" and published by John Fenno of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This broadsheet includes interesting columns on "Aborigines of America" which applauds the manners and culture of American Indians, and lyrics of the aforementioned ode. Also contains an account of President Washington's arrival and reception in New York on April 25, 1789. The document is in very fine condition, with a one-inch split down the center fold line, a few small areas of foxing, and minor edge wear on the right edge.
