[Martin Luther King, Jr., Departure]. Group of Three Items Regarding the Departure of Dr. King from the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church including: Dexter Avenue Baptist Church Program: "A Salute to Dr. & Mrs. Martin Luther King." Four pages, 5.5" x 8.5", Montgomery, January 31, 1960. Just over two months earlier, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., resigned his position as pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and accepted a position a co-pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta with his father in an effort to be closer to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference headquarters (he was concurrently serving as the SCLC president). This dinner, which included music and a tribute to King and his wife, was his farewell. [and:] The Dexter Echo. Volume 4, Number 5. Six pages, 8.5" x 11", Montgomery, January 1960, with an article, "Gala Affair Planned for Kings."
