    [Map]. Alvin Johnson and Benjamin Ward. Johnson's New Map of the State of Texas. [New York]: [A.J. Johnson, circa 1862]. Measuring 25" x 17", this Civil War-era, lithograph map of the state of Texas is hand-colored and shows the counties of the state, towns, and rail lines. Relief shown in hachures. Three insets at lower left show "Plan of Galveston," "Plan of the Northern Part of Texas," and "Plan of Sabine Lake." Chipping at the edges. Small .5" tear at the lower edge. Minor paper loss in places along the vertical fold, especially near the upper edge. Scattered foxing.
