    Edwin Booth: Three 1863 Boston Theatre Playbills. 1) 5" x 16.5" playbill for the November 6, 1863 appearances of Booth as Sir Edward Mortimer in "The Iron Chest" and as Petruchio in "Katharine and Petruchio" at the Boston Theatre. The playbill also announced Booth's upcoming performance as "Richard Third." 2) 5.25" x 16.75" playbill for the November 10, 1863 appearance of Booth as Lucius Junius in "John Howard Payne's Celebrated Tragedy" entitled "Brutus" at the Boston Theatre. The playbill also announced Booth's upcoming performances as "Othello" and as "Richelieu." 3) 5.25" x 16.25" playbill for the November 28, 1863 appearances of Booth as Ruy Blas in "Ruy Blas" and as Don Caeser in "Don Caesar De Bazan" at the Boston Theatre. The playbill also announces the upcoming performance of Booth in "Othello." The three playbills were printed in Boston by F.A. Searle.

    The Boston Theatre opened in 1854 and became one of Boston's most successful venues for stage performances. It was in operation until the 1950s.
