    Early 20th Century Photo Travel Journal and related items chronicling an expedition through the Far East, Southeast Asia, India, and Egypt. Comprised of 234 black and white gelatin silver images, the journal takes us on a journey through Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Burma, India (including fantastic images of the Taj Mahal), Sri Lanka, and Egypt. Also found within are nine exquisite, hand painted images of Buddhist monks and other Chinese figures on rice paper, some of which have sustained damage. With fifty-six luggage labels featuring hotels from all over Asia and Egypt, in excellent condition, and two menus from aboard a ship of "The Hong Kong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Co," one written in English and the second in Chinese.

    Related items include three smaller photo albums containing photographs from around the city of Chicago featuring images from inside the Chicago Field Museum and turn of the century architecture; two letters to Duluth businessman Frank Day from Lula T. Ellis detailing her illness while in Asia; nine photographs, one beautifully hand-tinted photograph featuring an Asian child with a doll;, a Second World War-era Japanese magazine featuring photographs of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and a caricature of Joseph Stalin; a bookplate from the library of Frank A. Day; five pages from a Japanese magazine with images of what are presumed to be Japanese actresses and an actor; a map of Lake Towada from Aomori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan, in Japanese; et al.
