    Disbursement for the Brigg Washington, a Slave Ship. Manuscript document, one page, 7.5" x 13", Dec. 22, 1788, being the listing of advance wages for the Brigg Washington expended during its stop in St. Eustatia in the Caribbean, a stop along the third leg of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The expenses include salaries paid and various sundries including "fresh pork... Sugar... [and] 5 Gall Rum for people..." Maintenance expenses included "1 tarr brush... Carpenter... Entering & Clearing at St. Eustatia... paid fine Working Christmas Day..." Document has even toning, with separations and pinholes at folds.
