Constitution of the Confederate States of America, possibly printed in Mississippi. Sixteen pages, 5.25" x 7.5". This booklet is a very scarce period copy of the Confederate Constitution. No printer is named; however, part of the type used in this printing matches the type on certain documents printed by the Mississippi state printer E. Barksdale of the Mississippian Book and Job Printing Office in 1861. Barksdale possibly printed this copy. The final page states that the Constitution was "Adopted unanimously, March 11, 1861." This booklet never had wraps, but it retains its original pinkish-colored tape binding. Mild foxing and slight staining; otherwise very clean. Following is information about two other similar imprints (not included): one printed by John Cooper & Co. on March 11, 1861, at Savannah (22 pages); the other printed by Shorter & Reid in 1861, from Montgomery, Alabama.
