Circular Decree Appointing Commissioners and Setting Time and Place for Marking the Southwestern Boundaries of the Louisiana Purchase. Four integral pages, 8.5" x 12", printed in two columns (Spanish and English), Mexico, June 18, 1836. First Mexican printing. This decree, which relates to the long disputed, and much delayed, southwestern boundary of the Louisiana Purchase, sets the time and place and appoints commissioners for running and marking the boundary from the mouth of the Sabine River to the Pacific Ocean in northern California. As it turned out, the treaty became effective on the same day as the Battle of San Jacinto, making the whole matter of the boundary meaningless as far as Texas was concerned. This being an edition in Spanish and English of the Additional Article to the Treaty of Limits of January 12, 1828. Housed in a quarter-bound green cloth and leather case with integral cloth chemise. Titles in gilt on the spine. Edges show moderate chipping. Folds are separating in places from weakness.

Reference: Streeter 1257a (Streeter locates only two copies). Eberstadt 162:853.
