Thirteenth Annual Catalog of the University Female Institute, Lewisburg, Virginia, 1867. This 24 page catalog was printed by J. A. Wagenseller in Philadelphia in 1867. The catalog features an engraved illustration of the Institute used as a frontispiece. The UFI was originally established as part of Bucknell University. This amazing little catalog is a researcher's dream. The names of the graduates are listed from 1852 up through the class of 1866. The Class of 1852 only had two graduates and the school's growth is graphically represented until 1866 when 16 young ladies graduated. The curriculum, expenses, and the rules the young women were to abide by are all contained in some detail in the catalog. There are a few contemporary notes in ink on the front wrap and title page; the catalog has two vertical folds, and the rear wrap has evidence of old taped repairs, otherwise this rare catalog is in very good condition.
