On Strike - Here and Now For Bobby Seale Yale University Poster.
    17" x 22" (43.18 x 55.88 cm)
    [New Haven]; 1970

A large image of Bobby Seale, with "We must save Bobby Seale because we must save the Black Panther Party because we must save the revolutionary spirit in America" printed at the bottom.

This poster was likely made for the student strike that occurred at Yale University. The strike, which began on May 1, 1970, was in protest of the Vietnam War as well as in support of the New Haven Black Panther Trials. Seale had been charged with the murder of Alex Rackley, an ex-Panther who had confessed under torture to being an informant for the Chicago police. It is still debated as to whether Rackley had been an informant or not. It was believed that Seale ordered George Sams, Jr. to kill Rackley, although the defense argued that Sams was a psychopath and had killed Rackley of his own volition. There was a large demonstration in New Haven, and Yale students went on strike to show solidarity with the Black Panthers. Ultimately, the case against Seale was dropped.

Condition: Slightly rolled with a few spots of soiling. Else very good.
