    Harris Light Cavalry Recruiting Broadside. 12.5" x 19" broadside titled "$14 Cash! In Advance!", soliciting recruits for Harris' Light Cavalry. Printed by J. W. Tuttle of Plattsburgh, New York. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19.25" x 25.5". Folded in quarters, loss to left side, as shown, with some ghosting of image, as is normal. Harris' Light Cavalry (2nd New York) fought in countless battles, including Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Cold Harbor, Cedar Creek and Petersburg. Commanded by Hugh Judson Kilpatrick, they took part in Kilpatrick's daring raid against Richmond in March 1864. The regiment, which saw action at nearly 175 engagements, suffered enormous casualties. Out of 2,528 who served during the course of the war, the regiment lost over 1,100 killed, wounded and missing.
