    Art by Bill Olive. A screen-printed poster celebrating Huey P. Newton's birthday (February 17). The poster is a psychedelic rendering of Newton in black and white, surrounded by orange and yellow sunburst. With the Black Panthers' logo incorporated into the text at bottom.

    Bill Olive was an English artist active during the 1960s.

    Condition: Excellent condition.

    Huey P. Newton (1942-1989) was a co-founder of the Black Panther Party in 1966. Newton had been greatly influenced by Malcolm X, and the party were strongly involved in the Black Power movement throughout the 60s and 70s. In 1982, Newton was accused of embezzling $600,000 of state aid and funneling it into the Oakland Community School that had been founded by the Black Panthers. As a result, Newton disbanded the BPP. On August 22, 1989, Newton was murdered over a drug dispute by Tyrone Robinson.
