Description

General Pedro Lemus Broadside. One printed page, 8.5" x 12.25", Monterrey, May 13, 1839. In rebellion with Federalist sympathizers against the Centralist government, General Lemus was occupying Monterrey for a second time when he issued this broadside addressed to his troops. Lemus points out "the impotence to which our weak enemies find themselves reduced, which puts them in the position of being forced to resort to fraud and deception to keep themselves in the posts from which public opinion would remove them." Decree is lightly age toned with water stains at upper and lower edges. Right and upper edges are quite rough.

General Pedro Lemus was an important general and member of the new government junta in Saltillo, immediately after Mexican independence was declared. During the war with Texas, he served as Commandant General and Inspector of the Eastern Interior Provinces. Lemus later joined the Canales cause at Matamoros in October 1838, rebelling against Valentín Canalizo and Martín Perfecto de Cos. Together Canales and Lemus laid siege to Matamoros.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
