    Connecticut Governors Oliver Wolcott and Henry W. Edwards Thanksgiving Proclamation Broadsides. 17.25" x 21.5", September 30, 1824 and 19.25" x 23.5", October 20, 1835 respectively. The Wolcott broadside declares: "Thursday, the ninth day of December next, to be observed as a day of Public THANKSGIVING and PRAYER. And I hereby invite the Ministers and Teachers of all denominations, with all the good people thereof, to assemble, on that day, at the places appointed for their customary public worship, then and there to present united, sincere and devout adorations to ALMIGHTY GOD, with humble thanks for all the signal benefits of which as a State and as a Nation, we have been made undeserving partakers..."

    The Edwards broadside proclaims: "Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be observed as a day of Thanksgiving, Praise and Prayer to God..."

    Oliver Wolcott, Sr., was the 19th governor of Connecticut and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Henry W. Edwards would serve as the 27th and 29th governor of Connecticut.

    Condition: Light toning and browning on both broadsides, folds and creasing where paper has stiffened. Significant separation along the centerfold has occurred on the Edwards Broadside. Both have bits of paper loss.
