    Description

    Broadside Decree Calling a Special Session of Congress to Swear in Santa Anna and Recover Texas. One page, 12" x 17.75"; Mexico, May 15, 1844.

    Interim president Valentin Canalizo announced a decree on May 13, 1844 calling for a special session of Congress to be held on June 1, 1844 and listing items listed to be addressed. The first item calls for the oath of office to be taken by the incoming president Antonio López de Santa Anna. Item three calls for legislation to find recourse to recover Texas and conserve the integrity of the national borders.

    Broadside issued by Manuel Rincon on May 15, 1844; who signed in type at the conclusion.

    Condition: Flattened folds, with partial separation along the central horizontal fold. Light toning, with a few stray markings in pencil by a previous collector. Broad, untrimmed margins; light wrinkling throughout.
