[State Militia]. Francisco Vidaurri y Villaseñor Broadside Decree. One printed page, 8.25" x 12", in Spanish, Monclova, June 26, 1834. Here the governor of the state of Coahuila y Tejas calls for the strengthening of the state's militias, his plan being laid out in three articles. Signed in print by Governor Vidaurri y Villaseñor and Secretary J. Antonio Padilla. Several notations made by hand in ink. Smoothed folds with some light wrinkling. Three faint, diagonal stains at left. Uneven edges. Housed in a quarter bound green leather and tan cloth slip case with titles in gilt on the spine and matching chemise. Top board of chemise is bowed out slightly. Some light wear to slipcase.

Rivalry between the cities of Saltillo and Monclova led the Monclova faction to abruptly remove Villaseñor from office two months later and install a military man named Juan José Elguezabal.
