One page, 8.5" x 13.5", signed in print "Henry Ward" as secretary. The introductory paragraph reads, "An Act raising, and sending into the Field, six hundred and ten men, to recruit the Continental Battalions raised by this State, under the command of Colonel Christopher Greene, and Colonel Israel Angell." Toned paper with smoothed folds. Mounted to a mat for an overall size of 14" x 19".
This act was enacted "Whereas the Exigence of the public Affairs requires that a formidable efficient Force be raised, and sent into the Field, as soon as possible: And whereas this State is called upon by Congress and the Commander in Chief of the Forces of the United States, to recruit the Continental Battalions of this State with Six Hundred and Ten Men: In order therefore to comply with the said Requisitions, and to give, as far as possible, Stability and Success to the public Measures."
