Description[Republic of Texas]. General Maríano Arista Printed Circular Regarding Appropriation of Supplies and Livestock. One page, Saltillo, May 9, 1840. General Arista republishes a circular, originally issued the previous February, regarding army troops appropriating supplies and livestock from local citizens and the requirement that they offer compensation for payment or return of the items. Light age toning with moderate water stains. Chips, creases, and small tears along edges; smoothed folds. Tiny punch holes along left edge.
This circular also lists additional orders and sets rates and payment methods for shipping freight. Although unstated, it appears that Arista was planning a reinvasion of Texas and republished this order to refresh his soldiers' memories.
