    "Remember George Jackson" Poster.
    10.25" x 16.25" (26.04 x 41.28 cm)
    California; circa 1981

A bold red poster in memoriam of Black Panther member George Jackson. Produced by the Prairie Fire Organizing Committee. The full text of the poster reads: "August 21, 1971-1981 Remember George Jackson. Free All Prisoners of War. Independence for the Black Nation. Long Live The Black Liberation Army".

George L. Jackson (1941-1971) was an African-American activist and later co-founder of the Black Guerrilla Family. In 1961, he was arrested for armed robbery of a gas station and sentenced to one year in prison. However, numerous assaults on guards and involvement in revolutionary activities in jail led to Jackson's sentence being extended for an indeterminate amount of time. While in prison, he was introduced to Marxism and joined the Black Panther Party after meeting Huey Newton. On August 21, 1971, Jackson led an escape attempt, but was shot by prison guards upon reaching the prison yard.

Condition: Pinholes and small tear at corners. Light soiling on verso, else good.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
