    Description

Constitution of the State of West Texas. [Austin, 1868]. First edition. 12mo, 35 pages. Plus page of errata. Original printed wrappers. The work is a fully developed constitution for the proposed new commonwealth, carefully defining the boundaries of the State of West Texas. It was prepared by a convention authorized by a resolution of the Texas Constitutional Convention of 1868 which appointed commissioners to present to the federal Congress a request for the division of Texas into two or more states. The proposed capital of West Texas was to be San Antonio. Lightly toned along the upper edge, else fine.
