[Women's Suffrage] Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Address in Favor of Universal Suffrage, for the Election of Delegates to the Constitutional Convention. Before the Judiciary Committees of the Legislature of New York, In the Assembly Chamber, January 23, 1867, in Behalf of the American Equal Rights Association. Albany: Weed, Parsons, and Company, Printers, 1867. 24 pages, 8vo. On the verso of the title page is featured the "Constitution of the American Equal Rights Association." In 1867, New York's state legislature called for a constitutional convention to be held. Stanton addressed the judiciary committee on January 23, 1867, where she argued that because women were governed by the state's constitution, they should have the right to vote for the delegates who were charged with altering it. Nine members of the committee agreed with her, but their motion was struck down. Also included in this lot is a partial autograph letter unsigned. Two pages, 5.5" x 9", concerning the presence of a lecturer of French history who is to be hired for a lecture tour. It is said of him, in part: "He is a handsome man, that might make him attractive in the colleges for young woman!!" Both items are in very fine condition.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
