Abraham Lincoln: Extensive Memorial Scrapbook. 11" x 16" x 2" scrapbook, ¾ leather binding with marbled boards, gilt title on ribbed spine reading: "The Assassination of President Lincoln 1865." Front cover detached. Minor chipping and wear to spine. 312 numbered pages. Contains newspaper clippings from New York, Boston and Providence covering the assassination, the pursuit, capture, trial and execution of the conspirators, and Lincoln's funeral. There are two separately issued lithographed prints, plus illustrations and centerfolds from Harper's and the Police Gazette. It is, without a doubt, the most exhaustive album of its genre, assembled with great care and precision. If one had the patience to read its contents, one could gain a fairly high level of knowledge of the events of that historic time, as they unfolded. Disregarding the educational aspects, the aesthetics and graphics are quite appealing. There are some blank pages, but the majority of them have attachments. Save for noted defects, it is in excellent condition.
