A Rocky Mountain Goat Shoulder Mount, as taken by Warren Page. A Rocky Mountain Goat shoulder mount measuring 27-inches with 10-inch horns. The goat was taken in British Columbia in the mid-1960's and was documented in the book: One Man's Wilderness, by Warren Page. "Bent over both for concealment and for balance, we teetered another two hundred yards across the shifting slab, edging closer to the three goats we had spotted from the lower basin. A few more such careful moves and I'd be in sure shooting range. Then we saw a movement of white down below the ledge, and froze into immobility again...We had just started the final sneak across sharp rocks when they fed out from below the overhang, their heads fortunately down. I dropped into a sitting position; Frank lined up his binoculars.... The cross hairs had already steadied, and at the shot the goat dropped over the ledge. We sprinted downhill as fast as one can on a rockslide, thinking to cut off any flight around the basin edge, but there was no need to risk breaking a leg. The goat was right there. The tape said ten and a half inches, but the black horns were a shade too slim to make the record book.... It had cost us a five-hour climb and stalk, however, and that makes any goat a trophy."
