    19th Century Stock Saddle Belonging to Texas Ranger Captain Tom Hickman. Unmarked saddle with slick fork and straight back cantle. Metal-covered wooden stirrups with handmade bolts typical of the 1880-1890 period. Sold together with a letter of authenticity on Texas Ranger Law Enforcement letterhead. The letter, signed by Texas Ranger Captain David A. Byrnes "Co. B" it traces ownership of the saddle from Hickman to our consignor.

    Thomas R. Hickman (1886-1962) was a cowboy and a Texas Ranger.
    He was part of the famous Miller Brothers 101 Ranch show. He joined the Texas Rangers in 1919. In 1922 he became Captain of Company B. He is often referred to as one of the last Rangers from the horseback era.

    Description: Very good. Leather is supple and showing moderate age wear and patina. Lightly hand tooled at jockeys. Fenders were reset during period of use. Horn has been reset also during period of use. Conchos are later replacements.
