    Description

    1973 TOPPS CANDY LIDS SET.

Among the rarest of Topps baseball productions in the last fifty years was a creation known as "Candy Lids". Not dissimilar to ice cream lids of yore, this issue of 55 players provided the seal for a small tub of the company's confections. These few sold in 1973 all have a crease where the opening tab meets the perimeter. Further, there was no quality control exacted to assure the centerdness of the player's images. And finally, the issue was routinely hampered by creases at the far left and right of the discs. Offered is the complete set of 55, and we qualify their condition as follows: a) incomplete color perimeter due to off-centerdness-Kaline, Clay Kirby, Luzinski and Jim Palmer, and b) manufacturing creases-Aaron, Brock, Fisk, Jenkins, and Lolich. With color perimeter ranging from near perfect to eccentric , we assess, correspondingly EX/MT-Carew, Carlton, Gibson, Hunter, Jackson, Killebrew, Mays, Munson, F. Robinson and Stargell; and NM/better-Bench, McCovey, Perry, B. Robinson, Rose, Nolan Ryan, Seaver and Yastrzemski. Please note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, additional shipping costs may apply.
