1961 FLEER FOOTBALL UNCUT SHEET. Fleer’s very ambitious 1961 football production was created in two series. The first was #’s 1-132 simple enough. The second series, however, extended only to #220 which finalizes the set. Ideally, two sheets (of standard 132-images) equates to a total of 264. The second series, then necessitated some modification. And therein lies the mystery of this offered sheet. To be sure, 132 images appear, and some of those, 88 are duplicated while 44 others appear only once. Our hobby guides have attempted to identify those "single printed" numbers. However, this sheet, which we assume to be the standard for the second series, is at variance. Strongly suggested here is that stars such as Blanda, Maynard and Jim Otto were actually short-printed. This survivor has minor damage at both right corners, and only a couple superficial creases are evident elsewhere. Fully printed on the reverse, this one remains EX/MT.
