1950 ALL-STAR BASEBALL "PIN UP" SET. Among the post-war era’s rarest issues is this 10-card creation which was released in 1950. It was produced by Garden City Publishing and featured what was then accepted as the game’s finest contemporary stars. Measuring just under 7" in diameter and delivered on heavy paper stock, nearly all are presented in poses unique to the issue. They were available only in a booklet as perforated images which, in turn, could be vertically mounted by a punch-out hole at the top. The reverses provide playing tips corresponding to the position played by each star -- however, there are exceptions: Williams offers ‘hints on hitting’ - very appropriate; Kiner and Musial advise us on signals and base stealing respectively - both highly improbable. The net of all this amounts to a positively spectacular complete set of a truly rare issue. Included are: Kiner, Ted Williams, Rizzuto, Kell, Hegan, DiMaggio, Hodges, Jackie Robinson, Parnell and Musial. A few have very light creases toward the perimeter, but all are fresh and project as EX/ MT.
