    1888 Refugio County Platte Indicating Joshua Davis' Original 1834 Land Grant. 18.75" x 14.25". On linen. Joshua Davis was an early settler in an area along the Texas Gulf coast, in present day Refugio County. This sketch shows the original 1834 survey of Davis' land located on or near Hynes Bay, midway between Refugio and Port Lavaca. The sketch is annotated: "General Land Office Austin Texas Sept. 8, 1888./ I, R. M. Hall, Commissioner of the Land Office, hereby/ certify that the above sketch truly and correctly represents/ the Joshua Davis Surveys as shown upon the map/ of Refugio County, compiled and in use in this/ office in the year 1872, said surveys being represented/ in blue, and that the remainder of said sketch is a/ true and correct copy from the map of Refugio/ County now in use in this office/ In witness whereof, I herewith set/ my hand and cause to be affixed/ the Seal of Office, this the day/ and date first above written/ R. M. Hall/ Commissioner Gen'l Land Office". The sketch has some old fold creases and some scattered areas of foxing. There is one small hole, not affecting the sketch or text, otherwise it is in very good condition. TSHA member donation. All proceeds, including Buyer's Premium will go to support TSHA.
