1862 Map of New Mexico Territory. One page, 29" x 23" map, n.p., published 1862. Large early map of the New Mexico Territory, produced by the Surveyor General's Office and labeled "Ho. Rep. Ex. Doc. No. 1 37th Cong. 3rd Sess." The Territory of New Mexico was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from September 9, 1850, until January 6, 1912, when the final extent of the territory was admitted to the Union as the state of New Mexico.

This very handsome map contains a wealth of information about the New Mexico Territory of 1862. It identifies Indian lands, including several different Apache tribes, Navajos, Comanches, Yampais, and Moqui. Other items of interest and importance are also indicated: silver mines, "Old Spanish Trail," cotton farms, the "Mormon Fort" as well as other forts, gold mines, land grants, and large sections marked "Unexplored." This attractive piece bears a few easily repaired areas of fold separation. Uneven toning; three small sections of paper loss at extreme right and left edges. A striking piece worthy of prominent display.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
