1793 Edition of The Boston Gazette and Country Journal With "Dr. Ne[Benjamin] Franklin's Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America". Four pages, 10.5" x 16.5", Boston, November 25, 1793, uniformly toned, tatty along the edges, folds, minor flaws, mounting remnants along the right verso edge, else very good condition. Franklin's essay occupies the entire front page and paints a not unsympathetic look at Native Americans: "Savages we call them because their manners differ from ours, which we think the perfection of civility: they think the same of theirs."

Also interesting is a notice on the last page - "Take Notice! All Persons who have any demands against the Estate of his late Excellency John Hancock, Esq. deceased, are requested to exhibit the same to the subscriber...". Hancock died the previous month.
