[War of 1812]. Broadside: Treaty of Peace Signed and Arrived. Measuring 8.75" x 14", this scarce broadside, printed by Boston's Centinel sometime around February 1815, announces the end of the war with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, in part: "Great and Happy News . . . I hasten to acquaint you . . . of the arrival here of . . . sloop of war Favorite, in which has come passenger Mr. Carrol, American Messenger, having in his possession A Treaty of Peace Between this country and Great-Britain, signed on the 26th December last. . . . this city is in a perfect uproaer [sic] of joy, shouts, illumination, &c, &c." At the bottom, the Centinel adds: "We most heartily felicitate our country on this auspicious news, which may be relied on as wholly authentic." This document is extremely fragile and has suffered some paper loss along the horizontal folds, which have been archivally repaired on the verso. The left edge has several small tears down its length. Upper edge is chipped, as is the right edge.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
