    [Society for the Protection of German Immigrants in Texas]. No identified engraver or publisher; no year, but circa 1845. An early German immigration map, based on the 1839 Hunt & Randel Map; possibly from Gesammelte Aktenst├╝cke des vereins zum Schutze deutsche Einwallen in Texas (Collected documents of the association for the protection of German Immigrants in Texas), published in 1845.

    The two colonies that the Society had purchased colonization rights to are outlined and named. "Bourgeois D'Orvanne et Comp." is situated west of San Antonio; and "Fischer et Comp. Verein", just north of there. An inset map at lower right shows how Texas between Mexico and the United States along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

    Condition: Flattened folds, light uneven toning and soiling throughout. Chipping at edges with uneven margin along left, where map was disbound. Reinforced on verso with paper at an earlier time. Small bit of paper loss along lower margin.
