The receipts include payments for bonds, monies received for the sale of beef, and slavery related material. A second document provides an account of settlement for the siblings, and lists value of "negroes" as part of the accounting. A receipt for $65 for "Georges work [for] 65 days", and a Reconstruction era accounting for "John Jackson Colored" listing costs for goods purchased and money borrowed.
