    [Slavery]. Circular Regarding the Abolition of the Slave Trade in Bolivia Signed by George Hamilton-Gordon, Lord Aberdeen. One partially-printed page, 8" x 12.75", July 14, 1842. Headed "Slave Trade No. 3." In part: "I herewith transmit . . . a copy of a Treaty concluded at Sucre on the 23rd. September 1840 between Her Majesty and the Republic of Bolivia for the Abolition of the Traffic in Slaves." This letter explains that "The ratification of this treaty on the part of the republic of Bolivia has been received by her majesty's Government." Gordon (1784-1860), 4th Earl of Aberdeen, served as Foreign Secretary for Britain from 1841-46. Docketing on the verso. Unevenly toned with separation beginning at the edges.
