[Slavery]. Broadside: Reward for Two Runaway Slaves. One page, 10" x 7.5" (sight), Kenton County [Kentucky], May 29, 1844. This broadside, issued by Samuel Sayers, reads in full: "I will give Four Hundred Dollars reward for the apprehension of two Negro Men, belonging to me, who escaped from my service on the 25th instant; one of them, named JOHN, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, and thick set - the other, named NELSON, 21 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, tolerably heavy, rather light-colored, and one toe cut off. The above reward will be given, if said Negroes are taken out of the State, or $200 if they are apprehended within the State, and delivered to me living in Kenton county, Ky." At one time, Samuel Sayers owned upwards of eleven slaves, ages three through seventy-six.

The broadside is mounted to a backing board of similar size repairing areas of separation at the folds. Lower edge is chipped near the middle of the document and the lower left corner also shows minor damage. A medium-sized spot of staining is seen near the upper right corner. Framed to an overall size of 16.5" x 12.5".
