[Sheet Music] The Flag of Texas, A National Song. Four pages (printed only on pages 2 and 3), 9.75" x 12.75", Philadelphia, 1836. Ornately engraved, disbound sheet music. Full title/heading reads: "The Flag of Texas, A National Song Composed in honour of the Glorious Victory on the 21 of April 1836, and respectfully Dedicated to General Saml. Houston by A.F. Winnemore. Arranged for the Piano Forte by P.M. Wolsieffer." Printed by George Willig of Philadelphia, and sold in bound books. "A.F.W. Engr." printed at end of music.

This issue is a variant issue of Streeter's entry 1262, with title, words, and music on pages 2 and 3; according to Streeter, the only copy known of the original imprint (the Library of Congress copy), has the title on page 1 and the words and music on pages 2 and 3. Streeter comments: "The words of the song first appeared in the Baltimore Patriot, were copied in the New York Mirror of July 30, 1836, and were reproduced in Godey's Ladys Book for September, 1836. Winnemore is listed as a music engraver in the Philadelphia Directories for 1840 and 1841." Extremely rare and desirable, this copy being lightly age-toned with minor foxing on interior pages. A few creases and small tears along edges. Generally very good.
