"SAFE AT HOME" SIGNED LOBBY CARD. As the mighty Yankees of 1961 marched to World Series victory, fandom was instead mesmerized by the sub-plot of the Mantle and Maris home run duel.  It was indeed their season of fame, and upon its conclusion, Hollywood aimed to capitalize on this chapter of history.  The product they created was the somewhat embarrassing feature, Safe at Home.  Routinely, several publicity stills were devised to promote the film, and this one is among the less-frequently seen.  It's a lobby card that one enterprising admirer salvaged for the purpose of enhancement by autographs.  Now matted and framed to a full dimension of 18 1/2" x 15 1/2", this piece bears the magnificent felt tip signatures of Mantle and Maris (both 10).  The medium has a tear extending about 3 1/2" from the bottom border (expected of a rudely handled lobby card).  However, that blemish is comfortably inconspicuous.  This is a splendid signing by way of a rare medium.
