[Quantrill's Raid]. Autograph Letter Giving an Eyewitness Account on Quantill's Raid on Lawrence, Kansas. Four integral pages, 4.75" x 8", Lawrence [Kansas], April 25, 1864. On August 21, 1863, William Quantrill and his band of Confederate guerillas attacked the town of Lawrence, Kansas, in retribution for their harboring of Kansas militia and Union guerillas. One eyewitness gives her testimony to the atrocity. Writing to her uncle, she says: "...I lost all I had in the world except my soap shop, that is my house & all its contents, clothing & all...The rebels came upon us like a flash of lightning in a clear day. They took six men from my house & shot 5 of them immediately killed a negro who had run in for safety. shot him in my dining room, & he burned up. ...88 women lost lost [sic] husbands. 240 children were made orphans...There were 183 houses on fire at the same were shot with their wives clining [clinging] to them, and with their children in their arms..." The following year, near the end of the war, William Quantrill was shot and killed in Kentucky. Toned with chipped edges; small, scattered spots of staining.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
