    [Philip Sublett]. Manuscript Plat Survey Map and Report Regarding Disputed Land. Both sides of a single sheet measuring 15.25" x 12", Liberty County; August 3, 1840. A report by J.E. Jewett, acting deputy surveyor for Liberty County, submitting his findings of a survey. In part: "I have been employd To Examine Two Surveys of Land originally made in my district, one of which is the League Survey Near the Trinity River Made by Capt. Hirams for PhilipA. Sublett. The other Survey is the one known as the Six League Mill Tract. I have examined these surveys so far as the Respects the Interference of their lines according to the manner each have been surveyed. And I have Run and Surveyd the Interfereing [sic] Lines so as to ascertain the true situation. And I find that the Lines of the Six Leagues Mill tract Enters the P.A. Sublett League on the south boundary line, and crops it at right angles..." The report goes on to detail the exact dimensions of the overlap, and the plat map above illustrates same. Jewell signs on the verso, at the end of his report. A docket on verso cites: "E. Jewell's certificate", and beneath which is written in another hand, "P A Sublett map".

    Together with a second legal document from the county of Saint Augustine; a summons for a case file for garnishment against multiple defendants including Philip Sublett. One Page, 8" x 9", August 14, 1843.

    Condition: Plat survey and report has flattened folds with bits of paper loss occurring at intersecting folds. Creasing along center horizontal fold, with some chipping at margins. Toning throughout with light dampstaining at center. Second document, the summons, has toning thoughout, with bold ink. Uneven margin at bottom, where paper had been removed. Small separations and chips at margins at folds.
