    [Newspaper]. The New-Jersey Gazette. Vol. II, No. 81. Four integral pages, 9.25" x 14", Trenton, June 23, 1779. The front page contains an article referring to the delegates from Virginia and Maryland being authorized to approve the Articles of Confederation. This historic document, the precursor to the U. S. Constitution, legitimized the Continental Congress and served to establish the United States as an independent nation. Also contains mentions of General George Washington. Period advertisements on pages three and four, some of which offer rewards for runaway slaves. Overall toning. Light water damage to right edge. Small pin hole near the center through all pages. Minor separation along the vertical fold due to weakness.
