    Description

"NEGRO BASEBALL" MAGAZINE. With a pending copyright, this "Negro Baseball Yearbook" appeared in early 1946. Now trumpeted into the ranks of so-called "organized baseball," Jackie Robinson was instantly the darling of the Negro Leagues. On the cover, Robinson is depicted with the Kansas City Monarchs where he was contracted through the ’45 season. As is reported, and pictured, in its pages, this publication chronicles Robinson’s early successes in Montreal. Also treated in this yearbook is the imminent transition of Newcombe and Campanella. And finally, on the last page are pictured Satchel Paige and Bob Feller (et al) following the latter’s 1-0 ten-inning marathon over the ageless Paige. This cover of yearbook is about Excellent with border staining and light edge damage. The irony of this celebrated milestone is that it spelled the doom of Negro League baseball.
