[March on Washington]. The Episcopal Society for Cultural and Racial Unity: Group of Five Documents spanning the years 1961 through 1963 including: ESCRU Newsletter. Ten pages, 8.5" x 11", [Atlanta], August 6, 1963. Of note is the announcement on the front page for the "March To Washington," in part: "Churchmen from all parts of the country will participate in this historic action intended to dramatize the need for still further steps in freeing America from the bonds of segregation. . . . Participation by Episcopalians is being encouraged . . . it is suggested that Churchmen join with and support the plans of their local council of churches, the NAACP, CORE, SCLC, or the Urban League." Unevenly toned with areas of waterstaining which has faded the text near the end. [and:] The Episcopal Society for Cultural and Racial Unity Documents. Printed for the First Annual Meeting of the ESCRU in Williamsburg [Virginia], January 8-11, 1961, including resolutions (five in all), "advisory directives to the membership," and memorials to the House of Bishops (seven in all). [and:] ESCRU Newsletter. Twelve pages, 8.5" x 11", Atlanta, February 15, 1961. Special edition containing a recap of the first annual meeting of the ESCRU in Williamsburg the month prior. All in generally fine condition. From the Maude Ballou Civil Rights Papers.
