Removed from a larger, bound atlas: "A New Universal Atlas Containing Maps of the various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of The World" by Henry S. Tanner. Plate number 35. Lithograph map drawn and engraved by J. H. Young. Beautifully hand-colored.

    Features nearly forty counties of the Republic of Texas. Virtually the entire western half is consumed by the counties of Bexar, Milam, Robertson, and San Patricio. Inset at lower left titled "Texas North of Red River." San Jacinto battlefield is marked with a flag. Settlements and cities, mines, roads also indicated. At the top left is printed: "This tract of Country as far as North Canadian Fork was explored by Le Grand in 1833, it is naturally fertile, well wooded, and with a fair proportion of water." Relief shown in hachures. Moderately toned along the margins with some edge chipping, else fine.
