[Henry VII] and [Elizabeth I]. Three Documents from the Reigns of Two Tudor Monarchs. The first, one vellum page, 11.25" x 6.25", written in early modern English, circa 1494, being a land indenture between John Strelley and Simond Sigby. Scalloped top edge with attached red wax seal. Heavy water damage at left edge and in the middle which has faded the text slightly. A beautiful example of early modern English penmanship. The second, one vellum page, 10.5" x 3", written in early modern English, June 21 [?], circa 1494, being the release of John Strelley by the late Baron of the Exchequer. Folded down to 2.75" x 3" with attached red wax seal. Toned with scattered foxing spots. Small hole along the left vertical fold. The third, two pages, 9.5" x 29.25", in Latin and early modern English, being a list dating from the reign of Elizabeth. Small holes near the top and bottom edges. Chipping of the sides. Definitely worthy of further research.

The Tudor Dynasty was established in 1485, following the defeat of King Richard III by Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, after the Battle of Bosworth Field during the Wars of the Roses. Henry, who was crowned Henry VII, was the last king to win the crown on the field of battle. Elizabeth I was the granddaughter of Henry VII through her father, Henry VIII. She was the last of the Tudor monarchs, having never married or had children. She named as her successor, the son of her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots, whom she had executed in February, 1587, after discovering a plot Mary had hatched against her. James VI of Scotland was crowned James I of England following Elizabeth's death in 1603.
