    [Goliad Massacre] Morning Courier and New-York Enquirer, Monday, May 14, 1836, New York. 4pp., 23" x 27". Detailed and exciting news of the fall of Goliad and the death of Colonel James Fannin. The newspaper has 27 column inches of news stories describing the fate of the 341 Texans under the command of Colonel James Fannin following the Battle of Coleto Creek near Goliad: "a blacker picture of perfidy and blood, is not on record in the annals of history." The usual central folds; else, near fine.

    More Information: Among the accounts is by a young man, William Hadden, who barely escaped the massacre who "heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded and dying men, the cries of 'O Lord! O Lord have mercy!' and the most ejaculations of distress . . . mingled with the noise of the guns, which gradually subsided toward midday, when the horrid work was finished."
