[General Joseph Wheeler] General Order No. 7. One page, 3.5" x 11", June 3, 1863. Issued from the "Head Quarters, Wheeler's Cavalry Corps." The order lists seven ways in which the cavalry can impact the success or failure of the army. Some examples include: "...observing the utmost accuracy in their reports of the movements and strength of the enemy...; ...confirm the accuracy of their information, and learn at the earliest moment any change...; ...distinguish between rumors and facts..." He concludes by stating that "Cavalry Officers and Soldiers must always remember that they are the eyes and ears of the General commanding..." Toning covers the text, but does not affect its legibility; toning also along the edges. Some foxing. Fine.

Joseph Wheeler (1836-1906) was a West Point graduate from Augusta, Georgia. He has the recognition of serving as a general during a time of war for two armies that once opposed each other. He was a general for the Confederacy during the Civil War and, later for the United States during both the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars.

    Estimate: $600 - $800.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
