[Garth Williams]. Rosemary Wells. Group of Forty-Eight Illustrations for Charlotte's Web, With Original Application of Watercolor by Rosemary Wells. All forty-six of Garth Williams' illustrations that originally appeared in the original Charlotte's Web, hand-watercolored by children's author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, for the 1999 full-color edition of the book, the first appearance of these illustrations in color.

Forty-eight sheets of stiff watercolor paper in various dimensions, many protected in glassine envelopes. There are two slightly different versions of illustrations #25 and #38. Colors bright and vibrant. All in fine condition.

The publisher's blurb from the full-color edition of Charlotte's Web: "Rosemary Wells, author and illustrator of almost eighty books, considers Garth Williams one of the true geniuses of twentieth-century book illustration and feels that had he had today's technology available, he would have chosen to do the illustration for Charlotte's Web in full color. Applying a very simple palette befitting the story's setting, Ms. Wells hopes her results would have pleased Garth Williams." From the Estate of Garth Williams.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
